Precedent Study - House in Brione.
For this project, we were provided with a list of buildings, from which we would choose one to study and create rendered plans. A modern building in Brione, Switzerland was selected, resonating with my interest in contemporary architecture; but also the use of natural stone to blend in with the mountainous surroundings. The building was constructed in 2005 by Architects Wespi de Meuron Roman.
Rendered Plans.
The initial stage of the project was to select an element of the existing plans and elevations and create a rendered version. The key skills applied were the accurate duplication of the plans at the specified scale and carefully blending the colours using Promarkers.
Diagrammatic Study.
The purpose of the diagrammatic study is to explain the space to the reader. The research identified that there were common aspects to integrate into the study. These were: direction of sunlight, symmetry of the building, circulation of the space, sun path and typography of the land.
Concept Model.
The purpose of the concept model was to provide the client with an overall 3D impression of the design. A scale of 1:50 was selected for this purpose, demonstrating and mass and proportion of the building.
Interior Perspectives.
We were tasked to choose two interior perspectives that presented the space effectively, including appropriate rendering. The rendering process was a challenge because there was a need to make the renders look realistic to best match the photos. Also, the shadow was a challenge and was overcome by creating semi-harsh lines where the sunlight met the shadow.
